Cinco de Mayo

Yup, here it is the 5th of May, so I'm kicking it in with mariachi music in the background. It's also my very sweet ex-sister-in-law's birthday. Happy birthday, Tracey!

My computer's been redlining for the past couple of weeks, so I've been doing some backups and deletions over the past couple of days. I'm down to 41 gigs free, but that's still not enough room. In the process, though, I've found some book notes that I thought I'd lost, so I've spent the past few days incorporating them into Immortal Blood. It's been fun. The dialogue still strikes me as good after getting some distance. I also found a scene were a shapeshifting wolf tries to convince a mundane that she's real while explaining about "real" furry conventions.

It made me chuckle, and gave me some impetus for the next few days. I love having a direction.

Right now, though, my direction's heading out to the kitchen to make some pico de gallo for tonight.

Hasta Miercoles (I think that means Wednesday...) Regardless, everyone have a great time with the parties tonight!

Delightfully mixed post. Wonderful the things that go through one's mind, and into one's computer. I hope your computer behaves better.

Blessings and Bear hugs!

Hooray for finding the old book notes... though it doesn't sound as if you've got a space issue on your machine but rather a memory issue (they are different things, but it can get confusing because some computers will use harddrive space as "temporary" memory too when there is enough).

My suggestion is not to just delete things willy-nilly. I mean, yeah, cleaning up can be good too (Go REDISCOVERY!) but it's more about how many programs are RUNNING (in use) at a time.

I don't know what kind of machine you are running as far as PC or Mac, but if it's a PC, check your taskmanager and see if you've got a lot of extras on. That little taskbar on the bottom right corner should NOT stretch across your screen, but rather be fairly short.

Disable most ANYTHING that offers "Quicklaunch" options. They tend to load up as soon as you turn on your machine and sit there hogging memory even when they aren't being used. They slow down computers.

Also, check for virus software. Sometime sites try to "help" by adding anti-virus programs and such that conflict with other programs that you're running. Disable all but your main programs.

Contact me directly if you want/need more help. 41Gig should be plenty. I only have 19Gig out of 256Gig free and I almost never redline, except when running one strange game.

Great advice from Eden! Reminds me to do that monthly computer maintenance and backup. Cinco de Mayo sounds like fun at your house. And anytime the writing makes you laugh, that's gold! Have a great writing week.
